Concert Review: Peter Frampton Kicks Off 2025 Tour in Connecticut Featuring ‘Comes Alive!’ Classics and a Brand-New Song

Peter Frampton kicked off his 2025 Let’s Do It Again tour on Sunday, March 30, at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The show, which was the British guitar great’s first full-length concert since he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in October 2024, found Frampton in great spirits, in great voice, and playing fabulous guitar.

The two-hour-plus show featured a mix of Frampton’s classic solo hits, deep cuts, a few tunes dating back to his days with Humble Pie, and select cover tunes.

The concert began with a video montage of career highlights, culminating with an image acknowledging Peter’s Rock Hall induction.

The 74-year-old musician now performs seated because of the effects of the degenerative autoimmune disease inclusion body myositis (IBM). In unity with Frampton, his backing band also sits throughout his shows.

About the Early Part of Frampton’s Set

Peter began the show with his 1994 tune “Day in the Sun” and followed it with his 1985 song “Lying.” Although aren’t among his better-known tunes, both tracks reached the Top 10 of Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart.

Frampton then greeted the audience, noting that the last time he played the venue was in 2019 during what he thought would be his farewell tour. That year, Peter had revealed he’d been diagnosed with IBM, which weakens the muscles. Thankfully, the disease hasn’t robbed Frampton of his ability to play guitar and sing, so he’s continued to tour and make music.

The show continued with a version of “Shine On,” a 1971 song by Peter’s pre-solo-career band Humble Pie. Up next was the 1973 solo tune “Lines on My Face,” a reflection on aging that Frampton released when he was 23. A version of the song later appeared on his chart-topping, multiplatinum 1976 concert album Frampton Comes Alive!

Frampton then got the crowd on their feet with a rendition of his first solo hit “Show Me the Way.” The song originally appeared on the 1975 album Frampton, but it was the live version from Frampton Comes Alive! that became a hit, reaching No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Frampton Played a Brand-New Song

If the next song sounded unfamiliar to the Mohegan Sun Arean crowd, there was good reason. After Frampton played the tune, he identified as a new song that he co-wrote with his son, Julian. He also revealed that the tune will be featured on a new album he’s hoping to release in early 2026.

A rep for Frampton identified the song’s title as “Another Level.” Julian previously co-wrote and was featured on a song called “Road to the Sun,” which appeared on Peter’s 2010 studio album, Thank You, Mr. Churchill.

About the Rest of the Main Set

Frampton then delivered a tasteful instrumental version of the Hoagy Carmichael standard “Georgia on My Mind.” A studio version of the song was featured on his 2019 album, All Blues.

Frampton revealed that the concerts on his current tour were going to be recorded for a possible new live album and asked fans to clap like crazy at the end of the next song, “The Crying Clown,” a deep cut from the 1975 Frampton album.

Peter then strapped on an acoustic guitar and played the short instrumental “Nassau,” which led into his classic ballad “Baby, I Love Your Way.” Both songs originally appeared on Frampton, while a live version of the latter tune became Peter’s second hit single from Frampton Comes Alive!, peaking at No. 12 on the Hot 100.

A rendition of “All I Wanna Be (Is by Your Side),” from his 1972 solo debut Wind of Change (and Frampton Comes Alive!), was followed by a piano solo by keyboardist Rob Arthur. That led into a version of Frampton’s 1974 tune “I Wanna Go to the Sun.”

Frampton then busted out his trademark talk box effect for an intense version of the Soundgarden classic “Black Hole Sun,” which Peter covered for his Grammy-winning 2006 instrumental album Fingerprints.

As the regular set neared its end, Frampton played a version of his 1975 tune “(I’ll Give You) Money” that featured a guitar duel with second guitarist Pat Ferguson.

Frampton and company finished the regular portion of the concert with another Frampton Comes Alive! classic, the epic talk-box showcase “Do You Feel Like We Do.” The song first appeared on Peter’s 1973 studio album Frampton’s Camel. The 1976 live version, meanwhile, reached No. 10 on the Hot 100.

The Encore

Frampton then announced that it was time for the encore, explaining that he wouldn’t waste time the audience’s time by leaving the stage.

The finale began with cool extended jam versions of two blues songs Humble Pie had covered for its popular 1971 live album, Performance: Rockin’ the Fillmore—“Four Day Creep” and “I Don’t Need No Doctor.”

“Four Day Creep” gave bassist Alison Prestwood the chance to show off her vocal skills. For the latter performance, each member in Frampton’s band got to play an instrumental solo—Arthur on organ, Prestwood on bass, Dan Wojciechowski on drums, and Ferguson on harmonica.

Frampton brought the show to a close with an inspired rendition of The Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Peter included a studio version of the George Harrison-penned song on his 2003 album Now.

Before leaving the stage, Frampton told the audience that he was “a fighter,” and intends to keep performing for as long as he can. He also implored everyone to show empathy for one another and to “be kind to each other.”
