Back in 1985, Mötley Crüe released their third studio album with Theatre of Pain. Although many remember the album featuring the hit song “Smokin’ in the Boys Room”, it also included the song “Home Sweet Home.” Although the album hit shelves over four decades ago, “Home Sweet Home” continued to gain the attention of stars who wanted to add their voice to the song’s history. With the hit being covered several times over the years, Mötley Crüe recently teamed up with country music legend Dolly Parton for a special release.

While Dolly collaborated with countless stars over the decades, her addition to “Home Sweet Home” was a pleasant surprise for fans. But besides adding her voice to the classic song, her collaboration was due to the 40th anniversary of the hit. Thrilled about the chance to work alongside Mötley Crüe, Dolly said, “It was an honor and a joy working in the studio on Mötley Crüe’s 40th Anniversary re-release of ‘Home Sweet Home’. I was so pleased that they would ask me to sing on such a classic.”

Dolly Parton Not The First To Cover “Home Sweet Home”
Dolly wasn’t the only one hurling compliments as Mötley Crüe also released a statement, praising the country icon. “For an icon like Dolly Parton to sing on a song that has not only meant so much to us but to all the fans through the years, is a career high that means a lot to us. We couldn’t be happier to celebrate the 40th anniversary of ‘Home Sweet Home’ in this special way, and we’re excited to share this version of the song with all the Dolly and Motley fans around the world.”
Although fans seemed torn when it came to the new version, most loved the addition of Dolly with comments reading, “Sweet memories, and a song that never gets old. Dolly made it her home.”
Given the history of the song, it made sense why some fans would take issue with changing such a classic. But over the years, the song caught the eye of singers like Carrie Underwood, who decided to perform the hit during her time on American Idol. And that wasn’t all as Limp Bizkit, Chester Bennington, and Tommy Lee all offered their take on “Home Sweet Home.”
If that wasn’t enough, even John Cena (Yes, that John Cena) filmed a piano version of “Home Sweet Home” for an episode of the superhero series Peacemaker. While Motley Crue produced several classics throughout the decades, there seemed no place like home.
