Willie Nelson Cancels Outlaw Music Festival’s 10th Anniversary Concert Due to “Unforeseeable Circumstances”

While Willie Nelson celebrated his 92nd birthday back in April, the country music legend continued to hit the stage and perform. Loving the legacy he built on stage, the icon kicked off the 2025 Outlaw Music Festival that included performances by The Mavericks, Sheryl Crow, and even Bob Dylan. Although looking forward to taking the stage for the 10th anniversary concert on July 1st, Nelson announced he needed to cancel the show after extreme weather damaged the band’s gear.

With July 4th quickly approaching, Nelson looked forward to standing under the spotlight at the Lucky Star Amphitheater in El Reno, OK on the 1st. But just a few days ago, Mother Nature decided to rip through the Thunder Ridge Nature Arena, causing the crowd to evacuate. Sharing the news on Instagram, the caption read, “Unfortunately, much of the Outlaw Music Festival’s equipment and artists’ instruments were damaged and waterlogged, making their condition difficult to assess in time to accurately and safely use for tomorrow’s show.”

Wanting to offer fans the best show possible, organizers, including Nelson, decided to pause the Outlaw Music Festival. “The potential damage has halted the festival production as they recover and replace what’s necessary for the tour to resume.”

When Will Willie Nelson Continue The Outlaw Music Festival

Although organizers apologized for the inconvenience, fans who purchased a ticket would receive a refund. “Refunds will be issued to the point of purchase. Please allow 7-10 business days for the refund to appear on your statement.”

As for the next show scheduled for the Outlaw Music Festival, Nelson prepared to perform in Austin to celebrate not only country music but Independence Day. Taking the stage on July 4th, the country singer believed the best way to celebrate the day was with thousands of fans.

And for those wondering about Nelson’s famous guitar Trigger, the weather appeared to spare the instrument with a representative insisting, “Trigger is safe.”

Outside of the 2025 Outlaw Music Festival, Nelson continued to expand his discography with his latest album, Oh What a Beautiful World, releasing back in April. It marked the 77th album from the singer, who consistently released an album a year since 2016.
