On June 11, 2025, Brian Wilson, the musical mastermind behind some of the Beach Boys‘ classic hits, died at 82 years old. Wilson’s family took to Instagram to announce his death and wrote, “We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away. We are at a loss for words right now. Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world. Love & Mercy.”

Weeks after his passing, Wilson’s cause of death was officially confirmed by numerous sources. According to a death certificate procured by USA Today, Wilson “died after experiencing several minutes of respiratory arrest on the morning of June 11.”
In light of this tragic passing, the Beach Boys have yet to play a major live performance since June 11. However, that fact will change this upcoming Friday, on July 4, 2025. As the Beach Boys will headline the 45th Annual A Capitol Fourth celebration in Washington, D.C..
When To Watch the Beach Boys & Who Will Be Joining Them
The A Capitol Fourth concert celebration brought to you by PBS will air at 8:00 pm EST on Friday, July 4. Hosted by Alfonso Riberio, the Beach Boys are the headlining act for the Fourth of July celebration. For the show, the Beach Boys’ line-up will include Mike Love, Bruce Johnston, Brian Eichenberger, Christian Love, Tim Bonhomme, Jon Bolton, Keith Hubacher, Randy Leago, and John Wedemeyer, per PBS.
Other acts set to perform are The Temptations, Josh Turner, LOCASH, Lauren Daigle, Yolanda Adams, Trombone Shorty, and more. In addition to those musical performances, the evening will also feature demonstrations from the Military District of Washington and the United States Army Presidential Salute Battery.
While the evening’s main intention is to celebrate Independence Day, a byproduct of the Patriotic concert will be the honoring of Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys’ return to a major stage. Following this date, Mike Love and the Beach Boys will embark on their 2025 tour, which will consist of shows in both the United States and Europe.
