Perry has assembled an impressive lineup for the new outing. The band will include Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson, Joe’s fellow Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford, and Stone Temple Pilots’ rhythm section—bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz. The group also will feature Aerosmith touring keyboardist Buck Johnson, who’s been playing with Ringo Starr’s All Starr band since 2024.

Perry Shared His Excitement About the Tour

In a statement, Perry sounded thrilled about hitting the road with his solo band.

“Well…it’s time to let the music do the talkin again,” Joe Perry said. “I’m really excited about the JPP [lineup] this year!!!! Most of these guys played with me at The Roxy in L.A. at the debut event for my latest solo album [Sweetzerland Manifesto] in January 2018. They’re all busy as hell but thankfully they’re able to carve out some time for this run.”

He continued, “And I’m not only lucky enough to have Brad Whitford onstage with me but Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes [who sang ‘Fortunate One’ on the Sweetzerland Manifesto MKII album], Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz from STP … and Buck Johnson who plays keys and sings with Aerosmith, the Hollywood Vampires, and is also a solo artist in his own right.”

The 74-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer also shared some tidbits about what the group will be playing at the upcoming concerts.

“[T]he set list is gonna include my fav JPP cuts, STP, Black Crowes, and with Brad we’ll be hitting the Aero hits and some deep cuts and then ya never know!!!!” he declared. “Gonna be a BLAST, and if you’ve ever been to one of my shows you know the words GARAGE BAND on STEROIDS come to mind! See you there!!!!”

First Joe Perry Project Shows Since 2023

The last time The Joe Perry Project toured was in April 2023, when the band played six U.S. concerts. That version of the group featured Extreme’s Gary Cherone on lead vocals, Jason Sutter on drums, David Hull on bass, and Johnson on keys.

In June and July of 2023, Perry toured Europe with his supergroup the Hollywood Vampires. The band, which also features Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp, played a few U.S. gigs in late July as well.

Then, in September 2023, Aerosmith launched what was supposed to be a lengthy farewell tour. Unfortunately, frontman Steven Tyler suffered a serious vocal injury that forced the trek to be canceled after three shows. In August 2024, Aerosmith announced it was retiring from touring because of Tyler’s ongoing vocal issues.

Perry’s Recent Performance with Steven Tyler

On April 30, 2025, Perry performed with Tyler for the first time since Aerosmith’s last concert in September 2023. The performance took place in San Francisco a private fundraiser for the Tyler-founded charity Janie’s Fund. The duo played several classic Aerosmith tunes at the event.

Other musicians who also performed included Robinson, Cheap Trick’s Robin Zander, Extreme guitarist Nuno Bittencourt, ex-Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum, Bon Jovi guitarist Phil X, and Megadeth bassist James LoMenzo.
