So many artists and musicians want to be famous. Frankly, who doesn’t? The lights, attention, privileges, and everything else that comes with fame are so appealing to the Average Joe. However, as many already know, fame comes with quite a cost and a dark side that many celebrities have difficulty dealing with. Given that this treatment and its effects do not discriminate, it touches nearly every celebrity. It definitely got under Ed Sheeran‘s skin, too.

Ed Sheeran is one of the most popular musicians of the 21st century, and his rise to fame was basically overnight thanks to his 2011 single “The A-Team”. Prior to the release of the song, Sheeran was a starving artist, as he was homeless and spent a lot of his time couch-hopping and playing gigs where he could find them.
So, when he released “the song”The A-Team”, his life took a complete turn, primarily for the better. However, some consequences accompanied that newfound fame that Sheeran did not expect.
Ed Sheeran Once Opened Up About His Hard Start and the Death Threats That Followed Him
In a 2014 interview with The Guardian, Ed Sheeran covered his complete career arc. In short, it’s a sprawling story that covers his transition from a 16-year-old in London to playing at the Queen’s Jubilee in 2012. However, in between that large jump exists a period in Sheeran’s life that he doesn’t necessarily look back at too often.
“To be honest, I don’t really dwell that much on the past,” Sheeran told the publication. “I see everything I did in that period as a setup to what I’m doing now.”
Sheeran might have rid himself of his past in a way, but according to that 2014 interview, he still views himself as just your regular everyday guy.
“Famous or not, I still have the same problems as other people,” he divulged.
Well, that is probably true for the most part. However, there is one major part of Ed Sheeran’s fame that does not apply to the average person. The primary aspect of his early fame that set him apart from his listeners was the extensive death threats he received.
“I got quite a few death threats early on,” Sheeran admitted. “It’s not a great way to start the morning. It happened just after it blew up for me, around June 2011. Everything went mental.”
Hopefully, Sheeran is doing better nowadays.
