Coachella 2025 took place last weekend, from Friday, April 11, to Sunday, April 13. There were hundreds of bands and artists taking multiple stages, from big-time pop and hip-hop artists like Charli XCX and Missy Elliott to hardcore punk and even a cameo from guitar legend Brian May. If you missed out on Coachella this year, here are a few interesting moments that may catch your attention.

Charli “Miss Should Be Headliner” XCX

Charli XCX threw a Coachella afterparty following her set on Saturday, April 12. During her performance, she brought out several guests like Lorde, Billie Eilish, and Troye Sivan. During her party, however, she brought out the sass. Specifically in the form of a sash she wore emblazoned with the words “Miss Should Be Headliner”.

Green Day was the headliner on Saturday, but apparently, Charli thought she should headline instead. Charli had one of the biggest albums of the summer with Brat, but should that automatically translate to headlining Coachella? Say what you want about the pettiness factor; it’s still a bold move.

Controversy: Kneecap Censored, Green Day Swaps in Palestine Lyric, Circle Jerks Calls for “Army Of Luigis”

Coachella wasn’t without its moments of controversy, although it depends on your general view. For example, Green Day swapped in a Palestine lyric during their performance of “Jesus of Suburbia.” The pop-punk icons have long switched up their lyrics to make political statements, and this allusion to the war in Gaza was no different. At a hushed moment during the song, Billie Joe Armstrong sang “Running away from pain like kids in Palestine” instead of the original line, “running away from pain when you’ve been victimized.

Similarly, Northern Irish rappers Kneecap claimed they were censored by Coachella’s livestream when they led the crowd in a chant against Margaret Thatcher. “If anybody was wondering, Margaret Thatcher’s still dead,” the group announced during their set, then started up a chant of “Maggie’s in a box.” Later, they claimed that the livestream paused during this part, and additionally during a pro-Palestine message. However, there were other pro-Palestine moments that made it into the livestream. Coachella fans who were watching have claimed it was a glitch in the stream.

Additionally, Keith Morris of Circle Jerks called for an “army of Luigis” following a performance of the song “Coup D’Etat”, which ends with the line “kill all.” “That’s a pretty f—king ugly statement,” Morris initially said. “In ugly times. Do not think that we encourage that.” I guess he changed his tune slightly. While Kneecap’s statement was allegedly cut, Morris’ is still viewable on the Coachella livestream.

Everyone Was Obsessed With T-Pain

T-Pain had a “hero’s welcome” at Coachella 2025, according to a report from SFGATE. He performed at the festival for the first time this year, sandwiched between Jimmy Eat World and Charli XCX. T-Pain is known for his autotune and questionably creative endeavors in the 2000s, but he’s gained a new following in recent years through social media, where he essentially just does what he wants to do.

During his performance of “All I Do Is Win”, T-Pain took Ludacris’ verse, which is seemingly rapped at the speed of light. The crowd was wild with sweet, sweet nostalgia. While he’s known for dabbling in autotune, T-Pain actually has an incredible voice. He showcased that at Coachella this year.

Megan Thee Stallion’s Set Was Cut at a Climactic Moment: What Happened?

Megan Thee Stallion dealt with technical issues during her Coachella 2025 set on Sunday, April 13, when her mic cut out between songs. She brought out Queen Latifah, Victoria Monet, and Ciara for “Big Ole Freak”, and was transitioning into “Mamushi” when the speakers went silent.

Apparently, Megan went only a couple minutes over her end time, but Coachella cut her off anyway. On the livestream, she can be heard saying, “Don’t y’all do the hotties like that. Run ‘Mamushi’ back for the motherf—king hotties!” She continued to silently perform “Mamushi” for the gathered crowd before taking her leave.

Could Hardcore Punk Work at Coachella? Apparently It Did

Coachella 2025 featured several hardcore punk bands this year, with Misfits being the first and only band to ever have their original logo on the Coachella lineup graphics. Apparently, the crowds were loving it all. SPEED, Circle Jerks, and Misfits turned their stages into thrashy, mosh pit-y, underground extravaganzas.

Viagra Boys, Prison Affair, GEL, and Amyl And The Sniffers also brought their rough and rowdy ways to the desert. According to reports, hardcore punk is alive and well for the Coachella crowd. They fully embraced the stage diving, spin kicking, and mosh pits galore.
