New Report Claims Kelly Clarkson Wants To Leave Her Talk Show on Heels of Recent Absence

Since winning American Idol back in 2002, the spotlight never left Kelly Clarkson as she went on to produce several hit albums and songs like “Since U Been Gone” and “Stronger.” Besides selling over 82 million albums worldwide, the star also received numerous awards and was considered one of the 100 Greatest Women in Music by VH1. Outside of the studio, Clarkson also helmed her own talk show, which first aired back in 2019. Having moved the show from Los Angeles to New York, it appeared that Clarkson might be looking for another career shift as reports claimed she wanted to leave the show.

While only rumors for now, Clarkson caused a great deal of speculation over the last few weeks when she missed 10 episodes of her show. Allowing other stars like Simu Liu to fill in, the singer remained silent on why she needed time away. But now, Page Six reported that sources close to the singer explained how she wanted to leave the show when her contract ended with NBC in 2026. 

With The Kelly Clarkson Show becoming a big hit for NBC, apparently, executives are working to keep her on. As for the reasoning behind the singer wanting to leave, one source suggested it had to do with her children. “Kelly’s number one priority is her children, and they always will be. The show is grueling. It’s a whole lot of work, and I hear that Kelly would like to spend more time down South.”

Having two children, it made sense that Clarkson would want to cut back on her working hours to spend more time with them. Spending over two decades in the spotlight, the singer might be looking to take a break. While Clarkson remained quiet on the matter for now, Lui explained how he learned about covering for the singer just minutes before the show kicked off. 

There to promote his new film Last Breath, the actor said, “Kelly actually isn’t able to make it today. We are sending her our very best, and here’s the thing: I did not know that I was doing this until about five minutes ago when I arrived here to promote my new movie.”

With Clarkson missing shows and staying silent, the truth will eventually come to light. But for now, fans will continue to speculate.
