80s Rock Star Reveals “Devastating and Life-Altering” News: “Completely Shattered Our World”

First joining the heavy metal band Junkyard during the late 1980s, David Roach gained a faithful following of fans. Even with the group disbanded only a few years later, the singer eventually returned to Junkyard in 2000. One of their latest releases happened back in 2017 with the record High Water. Sadly, Roach recently shared the news that he was suffering from an aggressive form of skin cancer, causing fans and Junkyard to rally around him.

Posting a picture of Roach in the hospital, the singer and his fiancée, Jennifer, offered fans an update about his ongoing health struggle. “After David’s ongoing fever and cough led us to the ER, we got results that have completely shattered our world. It’s devastating and life-altering, and we’re trying to navigate through the emotions and uncertainty that come with it.”

Junkyard And Fans Raise Over $30,000 For David Roach

Diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, the National Library of Medicine explained how the cancer “is one of the most common malignancies worldwide, and its incidence is growing at a significant rate. It has been found to be aggressive in its spread and has the capacity to metastasize to regional lymph nodes. Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) has a considerably high mortality rate.”

Even with Roach learning about the cancer, Jennifer explained how he remained positive about the future. “David is showing such incredible strength and resilience, and even in the midst of this darkness, he’s still managing to keep his sense of humor. It’s a reminder of how amazing he is. But we know this journey ahead will be extremely tough, David made it clear he is not giving up hope and we’re going to need all of your love and prayers.”

While the pair thanked fans for their continued support, Junkyard took action, selling merchandise to help fund Roach’s treatment. “If you can contribute in any way – whether by buying his art, picking up some merch, or simply spreading the word – it would mean the world. Let’s rally behind him like we always have. Much love and gratitude to you all.”

A GoFundMe page was also created for Roach. The campaign already raised over $30,000, nearly hitting its $35,000 goal.

As for fans, they also shared their support for the singer, commenting, “Sending love, healing vibes and prayers your way, David.”
