Listen to Recently Completed Archival Foreigner Song, “Fool If You Love Him,” Featuring New Vocals by Lou Gramm

Foreigner just announced plans to release an expanded version of its chart-topping 1981 album 4, which will feature several previously unreleased songs and unheard alternate versions.

One of those tracks, a tune titled “Fool If You Love Him,” has debuted as an advance digital single. The song, which was co-written by guitarist Mick Jones and singer Lou Gramm, has an interesting back story. The original track was recorded during to the 4 sessions, which took place in late 1980 and early ’81 at Electric Lady Studios in New York City. The song wasn’t completed at the time, though, and remained in the vaults for decades.

Fast forward to 2025, Gramm returned to the studio to finish “Fool If You Love Him,” recording fresh vocals and adding a new verse that he’d written. According to a recent Billboard article, members of Foreigner’s current lineup also added new parts to the track.

“Fool If You Love Him” is available now via streaming services.

More About the Deluxe Reissue of Foreigner’s 4 Album

As previously reported, the deluxe reissue of Foreigner’s 4 album will be released on September 12. The album, which was the band’s fourth studio effort, has been newly remastered in stereo and the Atmos format for the reissue packages.

A four-CD/one-Blu-ray collection will feature the new mixes of the original album, as well as five previously unreleased songs, 14 early and alternate versions of various tunes, 15 instrumentals, and 15 live performances recorded in various locations during Foreigner’s 1981 and 1982 4 world tour. The package also will feature a booklet boasting more than 60 exclusive photos.

The live recordings include performances from concerts Foreigner played in 1981 in Birmingham, U.K., and Germany, and in 1982 in Anaheim, California. Among the songs are six tunes from 4, including the hits “Waiting for a Girl Like You,” “Urgent,” and “Juke Box Hero.” The concert performances also include renditions of earlier Foreigner classics like “Cold as Ice,” “Head Games,” “Double Vision,” “Feels Like the First Time,” and “Hot Blooded.”

The Blu-ray disc features both the new stereo and Atmos mixes.

A digital version of the deluxe 4 also will be available. It will feature the new stereo mix of 4, as well as the aforementioned alternate versions, instrumentals, and live performances. 4 also will be reissued as a single-LP vinyl disc boasting the new stereo mix.
